Methi Dal in Instant Pot

Methi Dal in Instant Pot / Methi leaves (Fenugreek Leaves) is healthy and simple dal recipe can be served with rice or roti .

Recipe :

Ingredients :

  • Methi leaves – 2 cups (packed)
  • Toor dal – 1 cup (250 ml )
  • Crushed Garlic cloves – 5
  • Grated Ginger – 1 tablespoon
  • Curry leaves
  • Green Chillies – 3 (slit )
  • Onion – 1 (medium size onion ,chopped into small pieces )
  • Tomato – 1 (medium size tomato , Chopped into small pieces)
  • Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Dried Red Chilli – 1
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water – 2 cups

Procedure :

  • On Saute ,
    • Add :
      • Oil , when its hot ,
      • Mustard seeds , Cumin Seeds,    (let mustard seeds pop)
      • Dried Red chilli, Crushed Garlic, Grated Ginger, Curry leaves , (Saute a  minute)
    •  Add :
      • Onion Pieces, Green chillies, salt     (let onions cook till translucent )
    • Add :
      • Tomato pieces and cook for 2 minutes till tomatoes are mushy,
    • Add :
      • Washed methi leaves and fry for 2 minutes
    • Add :
      • Washed Toor dal , Turmeric , water Mix Well.
  • Cancel Saute
  • Close the lid and Seal Vent
    • Bean / Chili – 15 minutes
    • Pressure – HIGH
    • Release – Natural Release
    • (or) Release after 10 minutes
  • Open and mix well.
